Week 05 - Dandelion Seeds in Colour

Dandelion Panel 1.jpg

Sometime ago I bought a macro lens - Nikon AF-S VR Micro NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8G – principally for wedding detail shots and newborn close-ups of little fingers and toes, cute lashes and lips and tiny button noses! IF ONLY!

But I have used it less than expected and recently, not at all!

So, as I have a little more time available than usual I thought I might try a little indoor macro practice.

During one of the lovely country walks with my photography friends last summer we came across some beautiful giant dandelion clocks. I cut a few and took them home but did little with them. However, one is still intact and, although rather dried out and having lost it’s white fluffiness, it is still very pretty and, I think, rather photogenic.

I have spent quite a bit of time on YouTube watching Creatives create and picked up a couple of ideas from two guys who produce some fabulous macro photography.  If these type of images appeal do check out the YouTube channels of Stewart Wood and Lee Hall.

As I say, I got some great tips from watching these videos. It was quite a fiddly process and a bit frustrating at times but I got totally absorbed in the process and lost myself for several hours! Although the end results aren’t up to Stewart and Lee’s standard, I was rather pleased with the images I ended up with!

I think it depends on your personal preference for colour but I hope some of them appeal to you.
